Billabong Pro Tahiti Betting Odds Released

Billabong Pro Tahiti Betting Odds Presented By Air Tahiti Nui

No surprise that Kelly Slater is a favorite to win at Teahupo‘o

Betting odds for the upcoming Billabong Pro Tahiti just dropped and there were no real surprises from oddsmakers. At the top of the list is four-time event champion Kelly Slater who’s listed as having odds of 4.5 to 1 to win. Not factored into the odds were the event wildcards Alain Riou, Anthony Walsh, and Nathan Hedge and local surfer Poulou Jocelyn who will most likely make it into the event due to injuries. With surf forecasted to be on the smaller side, it makes it tough for regularfoots to excel and squeeze into little barrels. Look for the smaller, lighter goofyfoots (the Hobgood bros, Gabriel Medina, Ace Buchan, and Travis Logie) to play the role of spoilers.

Who’s your pick to win the Billabong Pro Tahiti?

Kelly Slater 4.50
Joel Parkinson 6.00
John John Florence 7.00

Mucho Take It Easy – Muchos Tubos….Alex Gray and Timmy Reyes head south in search of the best Turkeymelt in Mexico, finding some tubos peligrosas along the way.

Not to be cheesy or too corporate, though we wanted to share who we partner with financially in caring about our communities.

After leaving in Manhattan and Surfing in Queens for about three years, my wife and I fell in love with the city. After one month of living there, I started working with the Grand Central Neighborhood (GCN) in Mid-Town East, helping homeless and less-fortunate individuals with their resumes so they can get a job. The best part about GCN is that their programs help teach homeless how to fish (so-to-speak), not just give them free resources. They provide not only food, showers and a safe place to sleep; though also workshops to help get the clients back on their feet and into their own apartment.

Also, since moving our warehouse and office to Los Angeles (my home town – feels great to be home by the way, as I haven’t been back for about 13 years!), we also just started donating to Heal The Bay. We’re excited to give to Heal The Bay since the ocean has been a big part of my life since I was little and I feel like they have had an excellent track record of results.

You can read more and donate here.

I wanted to through up some pictures from this past week since the pollution was so bad here in South Bay. Tons of trash along the high tide line, dead sea lion, dead seagull and bunch of trash in the water.

I emailed Heal The Bay to find out what made the pollution increase this week versus last, I’m taking a guess that it has to do with the rain fall from the past week, as soon as I hear back I’ll update this post.

Here’s the updated reason on the extra pollution and indeed, resulting from the rain fall. Added 3/20/13:

There is typically more trash after the rain flush.
The rain carries pollution from the street into the storm drain system and is released through outfalls.
Pollution that comes through the storm drains is not treated and ends up in the river, our creeks and eventually the ocean.
We recommend that you do not swim after if rains for at least three days.
Right now, they are not combing the high tide line because it is grunion breeding season.
If they raked in that particular spot, it could scoop up the grunion eggs.
